St. Paul, Sept. 1 .—Fire destroyed the summer cottage of R. A. Walsh, a St. Paul lawyer, at Lakewood, White Bear lake, and three children of a family of thirteen, John, aged five years; Angelina, aged four years, and Robert, aged nine months, were burned to death.

William Walsh, nine years old, was terribly burned about the head, arms and chest in his heroic efforts to save his little brothers and sisters, six of whom were sleeping on the second floor of the cottage. Sarah, fifteen years old also was badly burned about the arms and chest while making a similar effort.

Mr. Walsh, the father, was severely burned, too. He was Injured from the explosion of a gasoline stove In the kitchen of his home, which he attempted to light. Supposing that none of the burners were lighted Mr. Walsh set about to fill the gasoline reservoir of the stove, but one of the burners had been left burning and when he poured the gasoline into the tank the accumulated gas caught fire and a terrible explosion followed.

The fire Immediately spread through-out the frame structure and it was a roaring furnace in a few moments. Six of the children. Including those killed, were sleeping on the second floor and were practically Imprisoned by the flames. Bemidji Pioneer September 13, 1909

St. Paul.—Paul Krantz of St. Paul, 14 years old, was ordered held on a charge of criminal carelessness, after a coroner’s jury had found the death of Arthur Leach, uncle of the boy, to have been the result of a bullet wound the boy Inflicted. The Warren Sheaf Wednesday November 27, 1918

St. Paul. — Severely arraigning the acts of Joseph Unterberger. alleged “herbdoctor,” arrested on complaint of several of his victims. Judge J. W.  Boerner sentenced the “healer” to a term of sixty days in the workhouse.  Unterberger pleaded guilty to violation of the law relating to the practice of medicine.
